JAKARTA TOWER will surpass CN Tower in Toronto, Canada (553 m), Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai, China (460 m), and KL Tower in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (421 m), and Lippo St. Moritz.
Director of PT Prasada Japa Pamudja, Roesdiman Soegiarso, said that the Jakarta Tower will function as a telecommunications tower and multimedia. The project is worth US $300 million and scheduled to finish in the year 2012.
“Menara Jakarta will be the proud icon of Indonesia,” said Vice President Commissioner of PT Prasada Japa Pamudja, Djoko Suyanto.
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Fauzi Bowo hope the Jakarta Tower (Menara Jakarta) will be the center for TV station’s towers as well as cellular operator’s BTS (base transceiver station). “Currently, there are too many TV and BTS towers in Jakarta,” said Fauzi Bowo when visiting the project’s site.
Roesdiman added, “Jakarta Tower will be the tallest Telco and broadcast tower in the world. It will feature shared facility of antenna in the top of the tower to support the telecommunication and broadcasting system.”
It will be the network center for IT technology as it will provide data center and disaster recovery center, as well as surveillance camera for police and military.
In this area, the developer will also build international business center, offices, hotel, lifestyle center, and mixed use building. To support tourism, there will be observation deck, rotating restaurant and edutainment attraction “Indonesia Discovery”. The attraction will explain the history, cultural diversity and natural wealth of Indonesia, which is packed in a modern technology audio-visual.
